Ripple CTO David Schwartz Shares New XRP Ledger Upgrades and Network Improvements

New technical updates within the XRP ecosystem are drawing attention after a development update from David Schwartz.

The Ripple CTO emeritus recently revealed improvements made to his XRP Ledger server hub, a system used to monitor network activity and analyze blockchain performance.

The update highlights ongoing development efforts within the XRP Ledger as developers continue to enhance reliability, security, and performance.

Server Hub Receives Software Upgrade

According to the update shared by David Schwartz on social platform X, the server hub was briefly taken offline to complete routine upgrades.

The downtime lasted less than 10 minutes, after which the system resumed normal operation.

Schwartz clarified that the temporary shutdown was purely for software upgrades, dismissing speculation that the interruption may have been caused by performance issues.

The update included:

  • Upgrade to XRPL software version 3.2.0-b3
  • Operating system updates
  • Platform-level improvements for server stability

Schwartz also noted that the hub has been running flawlessly for the past two weeks, highlighting improved operational reliability.

What the XRP Ledger Hub Does

The server hub operated by Schwartz functions as a production-level node within the XRP Ledger ecosystem.

It collects operational data used to evaluate:

  • Network performance
  • Validator behavior
  • transaction reliability
  • overall ecosystem stability

By analyzing this data, developers gain insights that help guide improvements across the XRPL infrastructure.

Schwartz initially launched the hub in August of last year as part of a broader effort to research and improve potential use cases for the XRP Ledger.

XRPL Validator List Updated

Alongside the hub update, the XRP Ledger Foundation also announced changes to the network’s Unique Node List (UNL).

The updated validator list includes the addition of:

  • Gen3Labs

Meanwhile, University of Sao Paulo was removed from the validator list following a request from the institution.

A Unique Node List (UNL) is an important component of the XRPL consensus mechanism. It represents the list of trusted validators a node relies on when confirming transactions.

Each server in the XRP Ledger maintains its own UNL configuration to determine which validation votes are accepted during the consensus process.

Previous XRPL Update Addressed Security Issues

The latest developments follow a previous upgrade released earlier this year.

In March, developers launched rippled version 3.1.2, the reference server implementation for the XRP Ledger protocol.

That update addressed several security vulnerabilities that could potentially cause public-facing XRPL nodes to crash or restart.

Developers also resolved a rare edge-case scenario that might have led to network outages.

Continued Development in the XRP Ecosystem

Ongoing updates from core developers demonstrate continued efforts to strengthen the reliability and infrastructure of the XRP ecosystem.

With improvements to validator management, node performance, and network security, the XRP Ledger continues to evolve as a blockchain platform designed for fast and scalable payments.

As development progresses, technical updates like these remain essential to maintaining the stability and long-term functionality of the network.
